As I wrap up this year of intentional living, I can see how it has, over time, brought many benefits to my life. Purposeful living is the practice of determining your values and beliefs and then consciously changing daily behaviors to reflect those personal principles. This intentional focus definitely knocked me out of autopilot mode and helped me to become the best version of myself.
Having an intentional focus to my day helped me zero in on who I want to be. What do I want to surround myself with? What do I want to fill my day with? Once I defined my values and priorities, setting goals became easier. Areas that I focus on in 2025 were finding my joy, being grounded in a good life, and being challenged while using my strengths and talents. Beyond my rewarding speaking engagements and partnering with fantastic clients, I am intentionally prioritizing working out 4-5 days a week, assisting my mom, caring for Bernie and Anthony, and investing time to build my faith.
In my reflections on approaching every day with intention, it was also effective to see what I DO NOT want to be, such as trying to survive an overstretched and stressed life. I have lived that life. I did not want to do that again. Every day, I intend to find the balance between challenging work and fulfilling my purpose, without getting caught up in the chaotic cycle or saying yes to responsibilities that will drain me and not fulfill me.
It was helpful to live with intention by releasing the stress brought on by comparing myself to others. As Theodore Roosevelt once said, “Comparison is the thief of joy.” I am intentional about living to reach my best potential, not being drained by others’ successes or experiences. I love encouraging others and cheering them on as they live their best life on their terms, with their focus.
Intense living will continue to shape my actions and decisions as I take time to structure my week, dedicating time so I can be my best self and ensure that my priorities are realized.
One of my favorite authors, John Maxwell, shared. “When you get right down to it, intentional living is about living your best story. And you are the author of that story. You choose how it goes.”
Maybe my year of intentional living has inspired you to reflect on what you want your life to look or feel like. Lean into your life. Engage. You are in control. Every day make small changes for a significant impact. You got this!
